The Drums are back! Those words may either fill you with glee, dread or utter ambivalence. Yet wait, throw away those preconceived ideas because this video hints at a potential massive change of direction for the band. The Drums website has been stripped of everything except this mysterious film which shows blurry black and white images of the group recording and a minimal pulsing synth track that has distinct resemblances to the early works of Jean Michel Jarre circa Equinoxe or a softer sounding Kraftwerk.
Portamento is a musical term for sliding gradually from one note to another. Synth players use the term to describe the way they pitch blend between two notes until the desired note is reached.
