Treefight for Sunlight - New Waves

An important distinction the Breaking More Waves Ones to Watch 2011 roster drew in comparison with other similar lists was that every act named was from the UK.

If our musical net had been cast with a more worldwide view, then there would have been at least a smidgeon of a chance that Danish four piece Treefight for Sunlight would have squeezed their brand of upwardly warming pop music onto our scroll of honour. Listen to the tracks below and you’ll get a good idea of the journey the group will take you on. It’s a road populated on either side by the likes of the most upbeat and dreamy of The Flaming Lips songs, but more importantly The Beach Boys and The Wannadies – music with a light, effervescent feel – like holding hands and jumping off a pier into a cool sparkling lake as spring kisses summer. This is not the stuff to wallow in sadness to. It’s pretty without ever being twee – the kind of pop that the ‘real music’ brigade could admit to liking without sacrificing their indie snobbery credentials; there’s something familiar and authentic sounding here.

If you’re finding Treefight for Sunlight most palatable – and we have a fair degree of certainty that many of you will, you won’t have that long to wait until an album is out to buy. The band have recently signed with Bella Union – a label that consistently releases satisfying, long lasting works – and are due to release their debut on February fourteenth. Possibly the ideal Valentine’s present for your music loving partner?

where you said "The Flaming Lips" you should really have said Mercury Rev (even though they are not as widely known.) listen to this album next to the last two mercury rev albums and you will hear exactly what i am talking about. :)
that said, this album is really wonderful. glad you are promoting it.
