Cast your mind back to near the start of this year and you may remember the sounds of Dali Bor and Pippo Vari aka CHPLN. Now they’re back with Jetstream Lover - a new song. This is the sound of the city at its best, namely in the summer when you can disconnect a little and let everything just ooze by you. “Waiting for the 7.55 forever, watching the world go by, lost in the moment, lost in the sea of suits and ties,” CHPLN sing against a backdrop of dreamy pulsing synths and flicks of guitar. It’s gorgeously smooth and seductive – if right now you’re stuck in an office somewhere overwhelmed with corporate life, spreadsheets, data and the like, kick back, shut your eyes and drift away to somewhere better with this.

CHPLN - Jetstream Lover
CHPLN (yes they were once called Chaplin but now they’ve got a Google friendly name) describe themselves as a multi-pop duo. We’re not quite sure what multi-pop is but we imagine it’s pretty good for you, rather like multi-vitamins or multi-grain bread.
What we do know for sure is that Dali Bor and Pippo Vari, who make up CHPLN, originally met in Germany but now reside in South London. We also know that they have produced something very good for the ears with their song White Snow. It brings together classic singer songwriter sensibilities with a very modern electronic production, as if maybe Elbow or The Beta Band had spent a bit of time listening to Hot Chip. It has a gentle bounce, a wash of smooth soul and like a nice bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape warms and comforts perfectly.
CHPLN are not particularly a new act, their first release, a 5 track EP entitled Momentaufnahme dates back to November 2011 and online you’ll find a variety of living room sessions that they’ve uploaded. However, we suspect that for many including ourselves, White Snow will be the duo’s introductory song. As a bonus, if you’re a fan of fluffy dogs getting pampered the video (here) is undoubtedly for you.
