Monthly Playlist - February 2020

This month’s playlist covers, as every one does, some of my favourite new songs released during the month just gone.

No explanation is really required – I’d prefer you just listen – but here are just a handful of highlights.

First give your time to twst, an artist from Wales who is making some intriguing Billie Eilish-esque pop music. Then there’s Pongo, a Lisbon based musician who transforms Angolan kudoro into energetic exciting pop music. I featured her song Canto last month and now she has another new one called Uwa. One of the tracks on the playlist with the smallest amount of plays is Chicken Katsu Curry by Jean Penne. If you’re a fan of Chris Morris then you might well enjoy Penne’s dark humour on this track, a tale of the modern man, London and a well-known high street Japanese restaurant. For those who like things all things indie rock keep an ear out for Isle of Wight newcomers Coach Party, who dial it up with their song Breakdown and likewise Newcastle’s The Pale White and their new tune Polaroid. Also, let’s not forget that Lady Gaga has returned to the land of pop with a fan pleasing dance floor banger Stupid Love. Finally, we end this playlist with a nine-minute piece of pensive ambient wonder by Jonny Nash with Suzanne Kraft called Knife.
