Oh how wrong we were. “He’s not big on the blogs because (we suspect) he’s not the kind of artist that as a generalisation bloggers would like.” Those were our words when we first introduced Saint Raymond last summer. A quick scan of Hype Machine at the time told us that no other Hype Machine listed blogger had written about him. Then over the next few months gradually a few other blogs came on board then suddenly BANG Young Blood appeared and the blog gang (what do you call a gang of blogs – a hype? a buzz?) suddenly got fully involved and it no longer felt like masturbatory blogging but a full on song-orgy (some Zane Lowe action on Radio 1, its release on one of our favourite eclectic boutique labels National Anthem and the announcement of a tour support with Haim probably helped as well).
So now we’re re-joining the gang after nipping out for a few weeks (the orgy got a bit too much for us). Here’s Young Blood, which bizarrely is the second time we've posted a song of that title in the last few months following the return of Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Remember The Kooks at the start when they actually sounded good? Well there’s a hint of that in Callum’s voice and a hooky upbeat pop sensibility amongst the jerky guitars that has us won over; and yes his real name is Callum – if you didn’t know that why not find out more amazing facts including which UK based female singer songwriter he ‘did it’ with last year here.
