Mopp - Dream About You
Back in July we first featured the velvety smooth electro-pop of Mopp. Now it’s time to get further acquainted with the hot Scots dude, by wrapping your ears around his new single Dream About You out on 18th October through Euphonios, the label that first brought you Breaking More Waves favourites Unicorn Kid and Kid Adrift. Cloudlike synths float tranquilly along and soul pop vocals layer neatly over like the icing on top of a cake, but right from the word go you just know that the ambience isn’t going to last and you find yourself forcefully willing the beat to final kick in. Not being one to disappoint, eventually Mopp drops - and that’s the moment that you can guarantee big smiles all round. A beautifully subtle pop banger, if there could ever be such a thing.
And is it just us, or does the vocal sound just a little like Phil Collins on In The Air Tonight when Mopp sings the words “When the sun goes down” at around 2.38 ? No gorilla drumming though - just uplifting electronic bliss.
Dream About You by Mopp streams below for your listening pleasure.
