Dive In - New Waves

This band's name sounds like they're inviting you to take the plunge for a cooling summer swim and certainly their debut pop tune is full of sunny delights.

Dive In (not to be confused for a shortened version of At The Drive In - a far different prospect) are from Glastonbury. This probably means hundreds of potential references to THAT festival when people write about them, or even worse unfair comparisons to Reef, another band from that neck of the woods; the band that asked us to Place Your Hands although the only place we wanted to place them was over our ears.

However once we remember that (as The Stone Roses once said) music's not about where you're from but where you're at, we imagine Dive In being on the beach, shimmying up to us in silky shirts, cocktail glasses in hand singing about how they want to know how we really feel. Basically they make us feel like Wham’s Club Tropicana video. With a touch of the M83’s about them, some 80’s guitar licks, a pretty melody and one of the softest male vocals we’ve heard since Green Gartside sung about The Word Girl in the 80’s this song makes us want to run along the beach in red speedos with Pamela Anderson. Now there’s a strange image to keep with you for the rest of the day. Dive in, let go and enjoy.
