NME are reporting that Ellie G's March 2010 tour is her first headlining tour. (She's playing Brighton again then) If so what was this gig, was she a support act. In March she is playing at Digital, I wish I had known about this show. Damn those who were there.

Glad you're both liking Hurts and yes both Hurts and Ellie Goulding have commercial potential (time will tell if if turns into commercial reality). Tomorrows artist is less likely to be gunning for the Top 40, but is of high quality and seems to be an interesting personality as well.

Mike - Wolf Gang still isn't really doing it here I'm afraid, although The King And All Of His Men has grown on us a little.

Yes agreed. My first (obvious) prediction is now up. This years list is still very light on guitar laden bands, and I don't expect any of this years choices to increase in stature as much as Florence, but time will tell.

My initial excitement at the start of 2009 was for Little Boots, but I agree her follow up work was rather weak. It was almost the opposite with Florence who I think has gone from strength to strength with her live shows particularly gaining favour. I Marina is taking a little longer to warm up, but 2010 might be her year. Looking forward to your predictions for 2010.
