Isn't it amazing that three of us, who were all there at the time, can actually do talk about this? Luckily the tent was not anything like full as it was between sets (Matthew P and Kurran and The Wolfnotes). It may indeed be Natalie who is in the pictures that I took...Richard Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15211395613151181693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-64410672974904187722010-09-01T00:23:10.216+01:002010-09-01T00:23:10.216+01:00Richard - no you are right the pole didn't bre...Richard - no you are right the pole didn't break. As the review stated it was dislodged through wind pressure. The photos I have and have seen show this.Breaking More Waves Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01678542701655601547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-12373821683527076592010-08-31T22:46:32.511+01:002010-08-31T22:46:32.511+01:00Yes, there were objectional things at Latitude 201...Yes, there were objectional things at Latitude 2010. The rape incidents most unsettling of all. There is NEVER any excuse for this kind of thing, anywhere.

The damage, fortunately minor, during Crystal Castles set merely resulted from a naïve understanding of the band's ethic, I'm afraid to say. Crowd surfing is, while absolutely no excuse for any inappropriate however, hardly the epitome of self-preservation.
You mention the problem on the Sunset Stage. The incident in the Sunset Stage was dramatic and potentially dangerous but the pole did not break I think. The wind got under the canopy and lifted the base of the pole out of the ground. I have pictures that I took,as I was inside too. I'll look at them and post them if they add any more to the discussion.

'Thoughts on Music'
rpgreenhalgh, blogspot.comRichard Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15211395613151181693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-76694844564576485862010-07-21T13:03:03.004+01:002010-07-21T13:03:03.004+01:00Thanks for the picture Natalie. I was actually in the tent when the incident occured as well and also got some pictures, although they don't show the damage as clearly as yours.Breaking More Waves Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01678542701655601547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-70320090948513683802010-07-21T12:09:15.145+01:002010-07-21T12:09:15.145+01:00We were standing right next to the pole in the Sun...We were standing right next to the pole in the Sunrise Tent when it gave way. It was really quite terrifying. Just before it collapsed there was a huge gust of wind and then a snapping noise before the pole and canopy fell down.

This picture was taken just after:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nataliejohnson/4798732591/

There were 2 girls sat right by the pole and they were left just a few inches below the pole. One girl put her hand up to protect herself and actually touched the pole as it fell. They were really lucky not to have been seriously injured.

On a lighter note though, it was my first Latitude and it was fantastic. Loved every bit of it and thought it was very friendly and chilled out.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05650636591649058033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-59905050888176927192010-07-20T07:20:20.706+01:002010-07-20T07:20:20.706+01:00We are not passing any particular judgement on the...We are not passing any particular judgement on the incident involving Alice - no doubt each individual will make their own mind up depending on what they actually saw and heard. However, whatever view anyone takes, violence / harassment by any person should play no part in life - particularly at a festival. This is why the incident left a sour taste in our mouth - it is not what we believe festivals should be about.Breaking More Waves Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01678542701655601547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010923635709588318.post-22636965207433851692010-07-20T06:41:39.341+01:002010-07-20T06:41:39.341+01:00Alice only defended herself after having her breas...Alice only defended herself after having her breast squeezed, I applaud her for not being a victim. I think the male groper is disgusting, especially since the groping happened directly after Alice talked about the festival gang-rape and sent love to the victim.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
